54th National Primary Schools Swimming Championship 2013

Congratulations to all our swimmers who took part in the 54th National Primary Schools Swimming Championship 2013!

You've all done well during your heats and all of you have broken your personal best records! Well Done & Keep it up! Like we always say, "We can only get better!"

Here's what Teacher Jerry have to say,

"Since Year 2010, I've been sending my students for the National Primary School Championship every year. In 2010, I had only 2 students who qualified. 4 years later, I've 10 students who qualified.

I always tell my kids on the very day of their competition. "Today, all Teacher Jerry want you to do is to break your personal best timing. Don't look left, don't look right. Don't go and see who is overtaking you. Just swim your best."

Looking back, The Water Family Enrichment Centre have come a long way. Today we have such an achievement because of the support of parents and those who believed in us.

There are bigger groups out there. There are famous coaches out there. There are ex-national swimmers, ex-national coaches out there. However, all of you believed in my training method and gave me all your support. For that, I thank everyone of you.

There are many swimmers who trained at least 3 times a week or even everyday. For most of my students, I only get to see them once a week. Maybe a bit more during the holidays. So, if you ask me, I'm super delighted with my students performance today. Our timings are not just average. It's above average!

As I stood at the coaching deck this afternoon conducting my warm up session for the children, I told myself - this is success.

We are like a small kampung. I bring these kampung kids out of the village to see what the world outside is really like. How the big boys swim, how the giants train. Win or lose doesn't really matter. Getting top 3 in their heats, that's a bonus. Breaking their personal best record is what I expected.

I'm grateful that I've the chance to grow up together with them, train with them, motivate them and bring out the very best in them. This is only the beginning of our chapter.

Because, we are going to produce even more World Class athletes. Well done to all our swimmers who participated in the championship. You've accomplished something in your life that many children of your age will never get to experience."
