Road Trip to Malacca 2012

Wife and I woke up @ 7am on Monday and off we go to Malacca!

Objective #1: To try out the famous Malacca chicken rice ball.
Objective #2: To bring this "never to Malacca" before boy to see the famous red church.

I volunteered to be the chauffeur for my wife. No joke eh! 280km up north & 280km back to Singapore. Luckily along the pitstops, they sell yummy curry puff to peak me up! Just when I thought the price of the curry puff @ 50sens/piece was a good deal enough, the fillings of their curry puff was heavenly sent! Love it to the max!

Pitstop: Nasi ayam (aka Chicken rice). After my wife took the photo, I asked her. "Eh, I thought we are going Malacca to eat chicken rice?! Why I order chicken rice?!" Haha...

Beautiful mountain scenes taken by my wife.

After 2 hours of driving, we were fast approaching Malacca! WOoo HOOOoo!

We are in Malacca!! Behind us, is the famous Christ Church. It is the oldest functioning Protestant church in Malaysia.
Now, I can say "I've been to Malacca too!"

See my excitement with a windmill!

Well, actually, I'm just very happy to be in Malacca. Haha..

Interesting find! We found this "Ice cream egg" A nice snack to have while strolling down Jonker Street.

I was still all hype up and excited in trying out the Malacca chicken rice ball.. That is..until I ate it.

Review: The fishball soup was a little too salty for our liking. The 1/4 kampung chicken taste alright. The otak otak was nice. What about the chicken rice ball? To me, it taste like flour. My wife was saying when she last tried it, it taste like chicken rice. But unfortunately, the chicken balls we had were tasteless. The RM4 nasi ayam we had at the pit stop tasted much better.

Luckily, we ordered just 5 balls for the 2 of us.

Food disappointment aside, the interior of the restaurant was rather grand and unique. So, that score some points for it. We had fun taking photos with the settings.

Sitting on the emperor throne.

The emperor & the empress

A close up of the emperor.. Haha.
Dessert was wife favourite gula cendol...
While @ somewhere else, I was posing with  Mr Malaysia..

We spent around 4 hours in Malacca before we decided to climb up to visit the St Paul church on the top of the hill...
The ruins of St Paul church behind us....

A road trip is fun. A short holiday is great. It's not the destination that matters. It's the people who accompany you there that matters. A trip with the wrong company to the right destination is an unhappy trip. A trip with the right company to the wrong destination is fun.

I had a road trip with the right person to the right destination.  Our next road trip in the pipeline - Kuala Lumpur.

Teachers' Day 2012~

As Teachers' Day 2012 is nearing, I believe that all students and parents have already received notifications about not buying us any presents.

Some students and parents are puzzled and asked us, "Why?"

I thought I will take the chance to explain the reason.

Being teachers for so many years, we have been showered with lots and lots of presents from our students yearly. Just like last year, Teacher Summer had 2 trolleys filled with presents!

We appreciate the thought students buying us a present. However, do you know that the money spent could probably be put to good use? =)

For students and parents who really really wish to spend money on presents, please go to this website @ World Vision Singapore and choose a gift to donate to the less fortunate. A $10 donation will be able to get a child in Myanmar a new shirt and a pair of shorts. That's more meaningful don't you think so? =)

(This is what we always do and definitely in no way are we affiliated to World Vision.)

A teacher's greatest gift is not the amount of presents he/she receives during Teachers' Day. A teacher's greatest gift is seeing results and improvement in his/her students, academically and behaviourally. Therefore children, continue to work hard to show your love for us! =)

Selamat Hari Raya

We wish all our Muslim students and families a Selamat Hari Raya!

At the same time 2 gentle reminders,

#1: There are no tuition or swimming lessons on 19 August 2012 (Sunday) as it's a public holiday.

#2: Students are advised not to buy us any Teachers' Day presents. We appreciate the thought. However, we do not wish that you spend extra money in purchasing us a gift. We know you all love us. That's enough for us. =)

Shoot It Wright Contest! We won!!

Yeah! We won the Shoot It Wright contest organised by TLC & Canon! Wooo Hooo!!

Canon Powershot S100! Awesome right!!
Having entered in so many lucky draws before and we had no chance of winning. This is definitely one of the lucky draw items that we will be grateful for! =)

Wife and I love to watch TLC. And during that period where Invite Mr Wright was on TV, we would glue oursleves to the TV and watch him.. Haha.. We love his wacky ways of hosting. We love to see him travel all around the world and experience new stuff... Pretty much like what we are going to do! Hee..

My blog readers who have yet to watch his shows should really go and watch them! hee.. You would definitely fall in love with him!

So, Thank you TLC, Canon and Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific! And we were also given a couple bear! So pretty that my wife said "Don't open it up. We can put it in our new house!"

And a test shot on the camera! Just when you though such images (focus on the front, blur blur on the back kind of photos) can only be done on a DSLR. Canon PowerShot S100 is able to do that too! Oh by the way, I am not a professional photographer. So, sometimes it's not the skills of the photographer. It's the camera. =D

Yeah!! Wooo Hooo!! Once again. Thank you TLC! Thank you Canon! Thank you Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific!

And I present to you. "Shoot It Wright" Contest - Weekly Prize Week 1 Winner! Jerry Toh! Yeah!!! =D
