LifeJacket!

A Good Coach always test out his teaching aids on himself (A.k.a Guinea Pig) before his kiddos try them on. OK! My life jacket can make a 65kg young boy floats. So, Clear! Good to go! =DHelping my kiddos with their life jacket.. Before they take their plunge~And yes! We are ready to plunge! WOooo HOOOoooo!!
I love it when I see the excitement on my kiddos face whenever I introduce a new teaching method to them. =)

Discussion over the weekends

When the COE was announced in Feb that the supply was going to be reduced, the prices skyrocketed like BuZZLight Year - To infinity & Beyond!

Come 5th July, All our classes are going to be reduced to a max of 10 students instead of 12 students in line with the new SwimSafer syllabus that is beneficial from a safety and educational perspective as it allows instructors to supervise students more closely and devote attention towards individuals. ...Thankfully... BuzzLight Year travels in the sky. He don't swim. =)

SINGAPORE: The body of a Malay man believed to be in his 20s was recovered from the Singapore River Thursday morning.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call about a man falling into the river near Coleman Bridge at about 7am this morning. A search was conducted by divers from SCDF's Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team.

The body was found about 45 minutes later. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene

Case #2

THE dead body of a teenager who went missing while swimming in the waters off Sentosa was recovered in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Divers from the Naval Diving Unit found 18-year-old Muhammad Ridzuan Jumali's body about four metres from the shore of Siloso Beach around 4.30am.

They, together with the Police Coast Guard and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), had been combing the waters off Siloso Beach since the teen disappeared around 8pm on Friday night.

The SCDF used an amphibious vehicle and a boat for about four hours, before calling in a naval diving unit to continue the search for the teen.

Muhammad Ridzuan, the second of four children, was part of a group of friends who were picnicing at Siloso Beach earlier on Friday before going swimming. His friends became worried after hearing calls for help and seeing his motionless body in the water.

Police are investigating the incident.

"What places with water around the home may be dangerous?"

Over the weekends, I prepared some of my kiddos for their SwimSafer Level 1 Theory Test. In it, they got to answer "What places with water around the home may be dangerous?"

Ok, sounds abit too chim for the younger ones. So Teacher Jerry rephrased for them... "Tell me, where are the places u might drown at home?" And the answers came from them "Washing machines, pails, sink, toilet bowl, bath tub."

Teacher Jerry: "Ok! What about ur living room? What are the items that might cause drowning?"

Kids: "AH! Television!"
Credits
Hee.... Dear Children, you cant drown in a television especially when most of the tv sets are in LCD, LED, Plasma type. A fish tank or a fish pond in the living room might cause drowning. Remember that ok!

Father's Day!

Dads For Life from Little Red Ants on Vimeo.

Father's Day is coming this Sunday! And yes, I so happened to found this clip online.

It's a guilt trip but also a surprisingly heartwarming video clip produced for the Dads for Life movement by the National Family Council and Fathers Action Network to encourage fathers in Singapore to be more involved in their children's lives.

After seeing this video, I am now having second thoughts on treating Mr Toh on Sunday.. Maybe we should ask him to treat us! Hee... =p

The Best Rewards

The best kind of Rewards for any teachers does not comes in the form of Presents or Gifts. Nor does it comes from any Prizes or Monetary Stuff.

The best kind if you were to ask me. A simple Thank You from our own students.

From a non-swimmer who cant even swim the breadth of the Medium pool to a swimmer who is now swimming continuous lap @ the deep pool (lane 4 some more! Ai Say!! ) =p

From a non-swimmer who will only visits the swimming pool every Wednesday just because he gotta swimming lessons on that day. So no choice, die die must come. To a swimmer who makes regular trips down to the pool every week. (Well, @ least it's every Sunday!) =)

It's amazing isn't it. To see such transformation I can do to help a student. Oh and this student is somewhere in his (30's, 40's). Whats ur age ah RAMA!? Hee... A great father of 2 kids! =)

Rama used to say this proudly to his classmates in his swimming classes. "If I am willing take 30 lessons to master my breast stroke. You all won't take so long." But then again, He didn't take such a long time lar. Minus away his absence, minus away his frequent trip to China, minus here and there, I think all in all, he took just 15-20lessons only. =p
It was such a heartwarming moment when he came this afternoon to me and said. "Jerry, I must really thank you. Even though my kids are not here for swimming lessons today. I am still motivated to come for swimming today."

That Thank You makes all my coaching all worthwhile. =) Bear in mind, It RAINED today!

So, Rama. Here's what you should do. PA is now looking for their STAR TRAINER 2011. Go and make ur nominations! Wahahaha...

Toy Story 3!

Toy Story 3 is coming!!! WOOo HOOOoo! The kids and I were talking about it in the pool.. Haha...

My kiddos are great lor! They just see the trailer and they can tell what's happening in the new movie! Wahaha.. And they were discussing if Andy will just want Woody or Buzz Lightyear. Of course Andy will go for Buzz Light year!

Cause, he's my favourite! Lolx...He's always on the mission of rescuing since Toy Story 1 & 2. So, in Toy Story 3, I wanna see him go around rescuing and use his "Laser". Hee... But no one knows the answer, until u go watch it!

So ask me now, and I will give u a face of Woody! HUH!!!Here's the trailer!

And my favourite scene from the trailer will be the new shape of Mr Potato! Whahaa....If u watched Toy story 1 & 2, u will noe Mr Potato eyes, ears, nose ,mouth and moustache can be removed!! And Yes. The kids make me so angry today that I couldn't help but bring Mr Potato out...

After numerous times of repeating myself.....

Kiddos: "Teacher Jerry, I never hear what you say."
Me(Taking a deep breath): "Good. U know Toy Story?"
Kiddos: "Yeah yeah!! Buzz light Year!! Woody!! Toy Story 3!!"
Me: "Good. You know, Toy story got this Mr Potato?"
Kiddos: "YEah!!!"
Me: "1 more time, whoever not listening to me, I'm going to pluck out ur ears like Mr potato and place them on the front. HUMP!" Hee.....

“Catch Toy Story 3 Movie starting from 17th June 2010 and join the official Facebook and Twitter page!”

Gatsby Facial Wash

I must admit. Usually, I wont be tempted by the television advertisements to buy their products.

But this time round, Gatsby ads simply captured my heart. Even though, I know after using their facial wash, Teacher Jerry will still be Teacher Jerry and turning into Kimura Takuya is quite impossible but I'm still hoping my $6.20 of Gatsby facial wash can have the magic. Hahaha.... =p

I got myself the Triple Scrub and it feels great after my 1st wash! It's refreshing and knowing there's a certain percentage of chances in becoming the next Kimura Takuya kinda helps! Lolx...
Now time to sing song... "I.... Can... Give You... Gatsby...."
